Pre- & Post-Treatment Advice & FAQs

• Avoid using active products containing AHA, BHA, retinoids, exfoliates and enzymes.
• Avoid hair removal treatments, including waxing in the treatment area.
• Avoid botox/filler (at least two weeks).
• Avoid exfoliating procedures.
• Avoid excessive exposer to sun light, including sunbeds.

Following the post-treatment advice helps to minimise any sensations, possible side effects or adverse reactions of your treatment.

24-48hrs post treatment

• Wash your face with cool water, which can help soothe post-peel sensations. 
• Drink water. It is necessary to drink at least two litres of water every day to keep your skin hydrated. 
• Avoid wearing makeup. 
• Apply sunscreen with SPF30 or more. 
• Your skin is more delicate after a peel, so avoid direct sun exposure, which can lead to even more visible signs of skin ageing. 
• Avoid strenuous workouts, dry saunas and steam rooms. Increased blood circulation to the face can intensify warming, tingling, itching, redness or other uncomfortable side effects on freshly peeled skin. 
• It is advised to use DÉCAAR home care products to optimise results (more than 70% improved results have been noticed when the client combines the treatment with home care products). 

Up to 5 days post-treatment

• Avoid any actives, including retinol and exfoliators.
• Gently cleanse, moisturise and SPF only.
• Avoid any exfoliator procedures including waxing (seven days).

Depending on your skin’s sensitivity, it is normal to experience a variety of side effects as your skin goes through the post-peel renewal process.

• You may experience redness up to 72 hours post-peel. 
• You may experience a 'zappy' feeling, tingling or warm sensation up to 72 hours post-peel. 
• You may experience dryness, itching, tightness and possible swelling up to seven days post-peel. 
• After two to three days, skin may look flaky as the outermost surface peels off to make room for more radiant, new skin. 
• You may also temporarily notice more pronounced discolouration or age spots as they rise to the skin’s surface before getting sloughed away.
